Woven Tribes Midwifery practices the The Midwives Model of Care, which acknowledges the deep physiology of birth, as it is experienced and embodied by the MotherBaby, and sustained through the patience, presence, and skill of the midwife. This person-centered care is founded on the premise that pregnancy, birth and postpartum are normal life processes which emerge undisturbed and free from the barrier of fear, in an atmosphere of safety, support, and respectful quietude.
Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs) work in community with birthing families
We are the category of midwives specifically educated, skilled and experienced to provide maternity care in your place of choice, other than the hospital, which includes both home and birth center. This component of care centers sanctity, equity and autonomy for birthing people.

My Story
JANIS GILDIN, CPM, LM | CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL MIDWIFE
I am a licensed Certified Professional Midwife and a birth worker for over 30 years. My relationship with the natural world guides my way, teaching me to connect with the Earth and generate my voice and actions from deep within.
With the heart, mind, and hands of a midwife, I step back with respect for the birth process to unfold, and step in with compassion, foresight, and skill when that unfolding requires assistance. I acknowledge that providing culturally humble care is integral to creating a kind and loving birth space. I am grateful to serve all families in that light.
It is an honor and a blessing to accompany life manifesting in this way.

Home birth is a natural choice for those essentially healthy, low risk people who feel safe, easeful, and grounded in the familiarity of home, and who are committed to navigating the journey of labor without the assistance of pharmaceutical pain relief.

Experiencing birth at the Birth Center of New Jersey (BCNJ) is an option for those individuals and families seeking the same high quality, individually-tailored care that is the hallmark of home birth midwifery, and who feel most grounded, safe, and supported in the birth center setting when the time of labor and birth draws near.

It is never too early and generally not too late to begin your journey along the road to birth, either at home or at the Birth Center of New Jersey.
+ Schedule a ‘hello visit’ free of charge with myself and my associate, Raizy Goldsmith of Birth Partners, to answer questions and get acquainted.
+ Facilitate financial arrangements.
+ Set up your schedule of care including lab work and optional ultrasounds.
+ Be in touch at the start of labor and I will join you when called.
+ Full postpartum follow-up at home with final visit at six weeks.
